Paul has been taking photographs for more than forty years. From being a teenager using a YashicaMat 2 1/4 square twin lens reflex box camera to more recently getting to know his Nikon D3200 digital SLR. Paul worked at his father's photographic firm after leaving school, carrying out studio photography, taking portraits and point-of-sale product shots, all the while learning his way around the darkroom, developing his own black and white prints. Now, of course, everyone has a camera in their pocket to use at any time of the day or night, all we need is the knowledge and confidence to improve our photographic creativity and start taking our pictures to another level.
Paul grew up in West London but now lives with his wife and family in the rural west of Ireland. Since moving in 2001 he has been renovating his family home, writing and publishing his first novel and raising his two, now adult, children.
Sligo is the jewel in the province of Connaught, boasting Benbulben Mountain, numerous sandy beaches, beautiful parks & lakes, all with stunning views throughout the year. The weather can be changeable but with rain comes rainbows and dramatic skies. It all adds to the natural beauty on offer all year round.
Sligo hosts a distinctive stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way and has been featured in National Geographic Traveller magazine's 'Cool List' of places to visit for 2024. These coastal places of interest include Mullaghmore, Streedagh, Rosses Point, Strandhill, Enniscrone and Easky. Many of these destinations will be included on the safari list in due course.
Paul would like to show you how to see everyday things in a different light, to look at the world in a new way and to take better photographs with the phone in your pocket.
