We are over the moon at how much Jet Black Squares has grown over the last three years and part of our success has been fuelled by the fantastic creative workshop site ClassBento. So here, we wanted to talk a little more about ClassBento, what it offers and the sort of great experiences you can sign up for.
The name ClassBento originates from the start-up’s first teacher, Setsuko, a Japanese florist who ran Ikebana classes from her small studio. John and Iain, the founders of ClassBento, were inspired by the Japanese philosophy of “Ikigai” or “finding the joy in life through purpose”, just as Setsuko had found with her floristry. And Bento comes from the beautifully created lunches the Japanese enjoy from their Bento box. Their idea, which has grown into a worldwide offering, is to provide creative and inspirational classes from passionate teachers that provide a first step to finding the joy of a new hobby or skill.
We love working with ClassBento because their outlook on creative classes is the same as ours, to provide vibrant, enjoyable sessions on location that get you out of your home and headspace and doing something new and fun. This type of mental well-being is often taken for granted, but what we have learned when chatting with our participants is that it really shouldn’t be. It’s important for our mental health to be able to be in the moment, to have the chance to get creative and to socialise without pressure. It’s a tonic for the soul! As well as being able to enjoy an amazing creative experience, by booking or gifting with ClassBento, you'll support local artists, and promote mental wellbeing, with a donation with every booking to the charity Mental Health (https://mentalhealth-uk.org).
ClassBento offers classes right across the UK and internationally on all kinds of creative themes including cookery, painting, wine tasting, candle making and, of course, smartphone photography!
