Happy New Year everyone. We hope you had a wonderful festive season, and are ready for 2025!!!
If you are feeling a bit sad now that all the lights have been taken down, or just generally bleurgh over how grey the weather has been, why not pop along to one of the London Winter Lights festivals taking place over January and February at Canary Wharf and Battersea Power Station.
Canary Wharf
Canary Wharf Winter Lights is in its ninth year now, and is a real assault on the senses. This year, the trail takes you on a journey through twelve temporary light installations. CanaryWharf.com says:-
“On the boundary between real and surreal, the line-up will take you from a towering stack of bathtubs pulsing with light and sound, through to Westferry Circus where you can encounter a mesmerising tornado of lights orbiting a pylon, immerse yourself amongst panels of sari fabric and luminous threads on Wren Landing, be dazzled by an iridescent mirage on Montgomery Square, experience a bird in flight and be transported through a portal in Wood Wharf. Finish off the tour at our newly opened Eden Dock, where you can marvel at a 20m wide sink hole encircled by light.”
It is always a fantastic night out, but do be warned. It’s not for the faint-hearted, and if you don’t like crowds, or get overwhelmed easily then this may be too much of a sensory overload, and the Battersea Power Station Lights Festival may be a more gentler option.
The Canary Wharf Light Festival is free to attend, however if you would like to come on a Smartphone Safari, looking at how to best photograph the lights, then Jet will be running 3 dates:-
6pm Tuesday 28th January
6pm Wednesday 29th January
6pm Friday 31st January
If you would like to book on to one of these, you can do so HERE

Battersea Power Station Lights Festival
For a more gentler, less crowded lights exhibition, the Battersea Power Station Lights Festival is another beautiful evening of lights, set amongst the impressive regeneration of Battersea Power Station. Although there aren’t as many exhibits to see here, the area itself is an exhibit in itself and really is a joy to explore and photograph.
Ianvisits.co.uk says of the light festival:-
“A free interactive art trail for all to enjoy, explore seven light installations from British and international artists, a number of which are making their UK or London debut. Shining bright both inside and outside the Power Station from 8am – 11pm daily, many of the installations will offer more than just a visual experience, enhanced with soundscapes and interactive elements that respond to movement and more.
From a tornado of light, to the northern lights, and a giant ball of yarn, there’s so much to explore! This year you can also expect family-friendly workshops, live entertainment, silent discos and special offers from our retailers.”
The Battersea Power Station Light Festival is free to attend and runs from 23rd January – 23rd February 2025. If you would like to go on a photographic journey too, Jet will be running three Smartphone Safaris on:-
6.30pm Wednesday 12th February
6pm Saturday 15th February
6.30pm Tuesday 18th February
