You may have seen us talk about running corporate smartphone photography masterclasses (“Smartphone Safaris”), but what exactly are they, and how can you incorporate them into your business?
Our corporate Smartphone Safaris can be whatever you want them to be!
A social activity
A mental health activity
An up-skilling activity
A team building activity
An event to invite clients to
All of the above!!!
For a lot of companies, there is still an element of remote working where teams rarely get together in person, and an activity like this can bring people together in a relaxed environment. It means they can chat and catch up, while still learning a new skill. We normally finish either back at the office or in a bar, where you can compare and edit the photos over a drink, again emphasising the social aspect of the activity.
It’s also a way to get companies to appreciate what is, essentially, on their doorstep. We are always in such a hurry - wanting to get from A to B as quick as possible that we forget to stop and see what’s around us. We will be reintroducing our ‘Step away from the desk’ sessions in the spring/summer, where, for 45 minutes over a lunchtime, you can get away from your desk, get some fresh air, and recharge your batteries (if you think your company would benefit from this, please do pass our details on!). We encourage everyone to put their phones on airplane mode, so you really can get away from it all with just a camera in hand. It’s amazing how many people literally have no idea what is next to their offices - canals, gardens, sculpture trails.
Our Mental Health sessions are similar to the Step Away from the Desk safari above, but is more in-depth. As well as a generic mental health safari, Louise (Jet Black Squares Hampshire), runs dedicated Mindfulness Smartphone Safaris in Winchester which are a fantastic way to reconnect with nature, and be creative at the same time.
We have worked with numerous companies who want to up-skill their staff for site visits, evidence collecting, attending conferences etc. Yes, you will most likely have your own, professional photographers who will be there to capture the main body of the action, but this isn’t always practical and your team need to take their own images (especially for site visits). We show you how to work with the light you have available, how to get your subject in focus (always an important one!!!), and how to compose your images so they create impact. We also show you how to subtly edit your photos afterwards using one of the best - free - editing apps around.
With Smartphone Safari guides all over the country, as well as Ireland, the South of France and now Christchurch in New Zealand, we have got you covered (we also regularly fly to Turkey and Greece to deliver workshops). You can see some of the companies we have worked with HERE.
