Who is it for?
Our virtual smartphone photography workshops can be tailored to you, your group, or your business. It all depends on what you would like to get from the experience. It may be that you want your team to gain new photography skills for your corporate imagery and social media. You might want to organise an event as an incentive, for team building, or as a wellness experience for your group. Or, you may be an ex-pat hoping to see the sights of your old home and learn some photography skills at the same time. Whatever you’re looking for, we can create an engaging virtual event that’s bespoke to you.
How does it work?
Your Jet Black Squares host will livestream their phone to Zoom, Teams, Google Meet etc, so you can see exactly how to spot, compose, take and edit photos in real time, while being able to suggest shoot ideas and ask questions.

How long does a smartphone photography workshop last?
As standard, each workshop lasts 45 minutes. We’ve found this is the ideal amount of time to be guided through your different device set-up, smartphone photography compositions, editing tools and have the chance to tour around your chosen area.
What kind of shots do we take?
We can work in the genres that suit you, whether that be architecture, portraiture, fashion, nature etc, or we can keep sessions generic so you can experience a bit of everything. We have also organised models for our workshops so you can experience an on-location photo shoot.
How many people can attend?
We have run virtual smartphone photography workshops for a single person and for over 100 people, so we are very flexible. It is worth thinking about what you want to get from the experience, though. We can share tips and show the sights to a large number of people, but if you are wanting a lot of guidance or more technical details, a smaller group would work better.
What do I need to bring?
You will need to be able to connect to video conferencing – whether that be Zoom, Teams, Google Meet etc. All photos are taken by your host, which you can see through their live stream, but it can be useful to have your smartphone to hand so we can go through the camera configuration of your device. All information from the session will be sent to you on a pdf after the event, so you don’t have to take notes during the session.
Where can the workshops take place?
We can run a virtual smartphone photography workshop from anywhere in London, St Albans, Durham, or Newcastle upon Tyne.
Are you only on UK time?
Absolutely not! The beauty of a virtual event is that we can work around your time-zone, wherever you are in the world. So, if you are a homesick ex-pat across the globe wanting to see what is going on back home, or a business in another city wanting to experience a part of London, that’s no problem.
